Titanic evening gown

with sculptural bead embroidery

Period: 1911
This glamorous Titanic evening gown was based on a drawing from a fashion magazine from 1911. The original design came from the Parisian Haute Couture Salon Christoph Drecoll.

Light grey silk satin was used as the fabric base, while differently shaped glass beads in various shades of silver were used for the embroidery. The partial underlay of the stylised flowers creates a special plasticity.
The gown comes with a headband embroidered in the same style with tufts of feather grass.
The high waist, the kimono cut of the bodice and the train framed with arches are typical features of the "Titanic fashion" around 1911.
