Period: around 1800
This historical wedding dress with manteau is from the Directoire, the transitional period from Rococo to Regency, designed and made according to original patterns.
The delicate batiste dress is embroidered in blue. The hem of the skirt and the sleeves are also trimmed separately with embroidery. The transparent fabric is lined with grey silk satin to give the dress a light grey shimmer. The blue silk manteau repeat the embroidered pattern of the dress in a new composition at the hem and front edges with silver embroidery made from metallic thread.
