This very elegant and timeless cocoon coat is made from a rare original fabric from the 1910s; a very well-preserved black silk moiré with an interwoven floral pattern. It is lined with a black silk fabric with a heavy drape, so that the sophisticated drape of the pleats at the back is shown to its best advantage.
The fastening is an original embroidery from the late 17th century, consisting of metal threads in various shades of gold, which is surprisingly well preserved for being more than 300 years old. The Haute Couture of the late Belle Epoque favoured the use of antique materials – lace and embroidery.
The already very picturesque cocoon coats of the 1910s often had large extravagant fastenings to enhance the decorative effect.

The Titanic wedding dress, made of cream-coloured silk satin, features the typical draped skirt that became very popular from 1912 onwards. The so-called lampshade tunic (tunic with a flared hem) made of raw silk, which is embroidered with pearls over its entire surface and trimmed with white fox fur (faux fur), was one of the fashionable novelties introduced by Paul Poiret.
The silk bodice is trimmed with antique lace. The bridal veil is made of silk tulle, and the bridal wreath of wax flowers and the matching flowers on the belt are new, unworn originals from the period.

The design of this Edwardian afternoon dress is based on an original pattern from 1914 and is inspired by the Parisian fashion of 1912. Typical features include the panier skirt with ‘pockets’ inserted at the sides and the loose-fitting jacket with numerous buttons. The antique lace blouse is an original from 1912.

This evening dress is a typical example of Titanic fashion. It is made of rose-coloured silk taffeta and designed on the basis of an original cut from 1912. The front and back seams of the skirt are overlapping, the top is cut in the style of a kimono blouse. The overskirt of grey silk chiffon has a slight gathering.
The antique beaded grey tulle tunic is an original from around 1912.

Typical stylistic features of the two day dresses of the late Belle Époque, the ‘Titanic era’, are the high waists, which were en vogue until 1911, as well as the multi-layered skirt sections and the fluffy materials.

An original blouse made of delicate muslin was incorporated into the striped cotton dress. High lace collars were worn in the Belle Époque until 1913, and bodice skirts were popular for daywear, often made in several layers and with boning at the top. Decorations with buttons and reversed bows are further stylistic features. The three-layered bodice skirt is based on an original pattern.
The flowered cotton batiste dress is worn with a gathered skirt section, accentuated by a satin edging and floral bouquet. This motif is repeated by the high-set belt. A delicate tulle lace blouse is worn under the draped bodice.
Two matching straw hats with flowers, feathers and a tulle bow are included.

This Belle Époque evening dress was designed according to an original cut from 1912.
It is made of pink silk satin and cream-coloured silk organza. Typical features include the gathered skirt, which tapers visually towards the hem, the long, tapered train and the kimono-style bodice. The hand-embroidered tulle tunic is an original from this period.

This evening coat, a so-called cocoon coat, is based on an original historical pattern from 1913. Its special feature is the pronounced upper width with cut sleeves and the strong taper towards the hem, a silhouette typical of Titanic evening coats. A silk taffeta printed with chrysanthemums was used for the outer material and a golden silk brocade for the lining. A large frog closure serves as the fastening.

This wedding dress from the end of the Belle Époque, the Titanic era, is made of antique white embroidered silk and is designed in the very elegant and refined kimono style typical of this era.
Other characteristic features include the tight, side-draped skirt with overlapping rounded front panels, the wide sash belt, here made of cream-coloured silk, and the narrow sleeves.
The embroidered cotton tulle of the antique bridal veil is an original fabric from 1912, set in delicate cotton lace.
It comes with a bridal wreath, here made of white silk flowers, which is replaced with a real myrtle wreath for the wedding ceremony.

This glamorous Titanic evening gown was based on a drawing from a fashion magazine from 1911. The original design came from the Parisian Haute Couture Salon Christoph Drecoll.

Light grey silk satin was used as the fabric base, while differently shaped glass beads in various shades of silver were used for the embroidery. The partial underlay of the stylised flowers creates a special plasticity.
The gown comes with a headband embroidered in the same style with tufts of feather grass.
The high waist, the kimono cut of the bodice and the train framed with arches are typical features of the “Titanic fashion” around 1911.

Time: ca. 1914, Germany

This Edwardian evening coat is made of gold-coloured quilted silk. It is cut very wide at the top, with gussets under the sleeves, and the shape tapers sharply towards the bottom. The collar and hems pick up the quilting pattern again in needle painting and intensify it. The coat has an Art Nouveau frog closure.

This simple street costume, a so-called tailor made, is an essential part of the ‘Titanic fashion’ around 1910 and is based on an original cut. The tailor-made costume is made of English herringbone tweed, the collar and cuffs are trimmed with brown cotton velvet.
The lace blouse has the high stand-up collar and jabot typical of the late Belle Époque. The cotton astrakhan hat is decorated with pheasant feathers. The muff is also made of brown astrakhan.

Period: around 1913

This Belle Époque afternoon gown or reception gown is made from a silk-cotton damask based on an original pattern from 1913. The hems and neckline are trimmed with an antique feather boa and underlaid with pleated organza ribbon. A tunic made of silk organza with antique lace is worn over the gown. Opulent bows like those on this model were very ‘fashionable’ for a short time.
