Venetian dress
for early music
Period: 1560/70, Italy
The following dress has been commissioned work for the Danish soprano singer Anna Maria Wierød.
We have crafted this robe from hand-made silk underlaid with plain-colored silk. The superstition of both fabrics leads to (light) refractions within the transparent part of the cutwork, which create a distinct depth effect: the dress appears to be shining from the inside. The overall stage presence of this dress is further increased through gold-colored Venetian lace, which we used for collar and cuffs.
The Tudor corset has been crafted based on an original cut. Below the barrel-shaped skirt is complemented by a hip roll.
