This giornea (outer garment for men during the Italian Renaissance) has been made of opulent silk lampas for an English reenactment group. 
Besides contemporary drawings we used paintings by Fra Angelico as models. 

The front and the back of the giornea cascade down in tubular pleats, which are held together by a belt. Hem and neckline have been trimmed with "fox fur". 
Characteristic for this kind of clothing is the V-neck cut at its back. 
We further crafted a corresponding headgear made of wool felt, which has been "fox fur"-trimmed as well.
